From the dashboard, click Layout->Edit HTML->check the Expand Widget Templates->search for data:defaultadstart
add the search box code before the data:defaultadstart ->click Save Template

Adding Search Box on Top
To add search box on top of your blogspot's blog,
From the dashboard, click Layout->Edit HTML->check the Expand Widget Templates->search for data:defaultadstart
add the search box code before the data:defaultadstart ->click Save Template
You're done.
